چکیده
edition shows how necessary this book of Sir Cyril Burt is to those who teach and have dealings with the welfare of sub-normal children. Most psychologists appear to be detached from the physical side of the lives of their patients. Burt, however, from the time of his early appointment as Psychologist to the London County Council, links up the child's mental development with the physical and environmental aspects of life. Burt's philosophy is reflected in this book. The first four chapters deal with classification, investigation of cases, definitions and frequency of educational retardation. There follow seven chapters on the causes of backwardness, all relating to social and physical conditions. Then come three chapters on intellectual factors. An analysis of the subject matter shows the stress placed by Professor Burt

This study uses Indian unit record data from expenditure and employment surveys, in conjunction with State level indicators, to (a) investigate whether the backward classes and female headed households face higher poverty rates than others, and (b) examine the impact of poverty, along with a host of individual, family, socio economic and State characteristics, on child labour and child schoolin...

متن کاملThe Board of Education & Backward Children
Two features of the pamphlet will certainly fulfil that end. First, the description of different types of backward children and the very full reference to the complexity and diversity of causes contributing to backwardness are most illuminating, and secondly, the necessity of flexibility in school organisation, discipline and curricula where the needs of backward children are to be met receives...
متن کاملA numerical scheme for solving nonlinear backward parabolic problems
In this paper a nonlinear backward parabolic problem in one dimensional space is considered. Using a suitable iterative algorithm, the problem is converted to a linear backward parabolic problem. For the corresponding problem, the backward finite differences method with suitable grid size is applied. It is shown that if the coefficients satisfy some special conditions, th...
